Bring a friend
Climbing’s a great sport so why not share it? Any adult who is registered at White Spider as a competent climber can bring up to two novice guests with them. The competent climber must supervise their guest(s) during their climb at White Spider at all times. If the competent climber is registered for bouldering only then both they and their guests may only boulder, however if they are registered for climbing then they may also climb.
If you wish to bring a friend to White Spider:
- If they are over 18 then all you will need to do is to sign the Novice & Junior Daily Signing In Sheet which is on the front desk of our reception. Note that as their supervisor you undertake to be responsible for the safety and supervision of the novice for the duration of their climbing session, including the direct supervision of all belaying. You also further undertake to ensure that they will abide by the Conditions of Use and Rules of the centre.
- If they are under 18 then as well as completing the Novice & Junior Daily Signing In Sheet, they will also need to have a completed Junior Supervised Climbing Form registered in our system. This only needs to be done once, so if they have climbed with White Spider before they wont need to complete the Junior Supervised Climbing Form again.
Please note the BMC participation statement for climbing, which is repeated on all of our forms: “The British Mountaineering Council recognises that climbing and mountaineering are activities with a danger of personal injury or death. Participants in these activities should be aware of and accept these risks and be responsible for their own actions.”
So you must take your supervision responsibilities seriously and if you have any questions talk to a member of the White Spider team.
You can find the Registration Forms here.
